What is the mission of the YES program? It is to mentor and teach 18-24 year olds how to organize their lives, how to manage and invest their money and how to start an internet based business.
The objective of this project is for the Student to earn the skills to develop an e-business that is community based and sustainable.
COURSE Outline
The training is 8 weeks and will be held on Tuesday-Thursday between 9AM-3PM.
The tasks will be assigned daily and progress reports will be weekly.
This course hours are flexible and requires that the individual be self motivated.
Anyone who does not complete the tasks on schedule will be dropped from the program and those who are over achievers will be recognized and rewarded.
Transportation to and from the EDGE Center is the responsibility of the individuals.
Classroom attendance is not required everyday if student has high speed internet access at home.
Training is computer based, basic understanding of using a computer is required.
Course Curriculum includes:
- Learning how to setup and run a successful online auction,
- How to solicit for donations and sponsors,
- How to market items for auction,
- How to design and organize the auction website.
- How to setup and manage inventory for an online catalog,
- How to collect and manage funds,
- How to close the auction and ship products to buyers,
- How to manage donors.
- How to work as a team.
- How to volunteer in the community.
Students who complete all tasks on time will be rewarded with :
- a lap top computer,
- the opportunity to continue developing a business idea in the Innovation Center incubation program,
- cash for college.
Scholarships will be awarded in May 2010.
Fees for this program will be deducted from the income and sponsorships received, after all expenses are paid profits will be divided 50% to the students and 50% to the EDGE Center Student Scholarship fund. Students will receive continuing education credits for this program and a certificate of completion.
